This work features a painting of Wael Dahdouh and his son Hamza Dahdouh. Father and Son is a way of memorializing and engraining the connection, strength and memory of the bond between Wael and Hamza, and tributing their bond through painting. It’s a way of commemorating their bond, and also centring the connection and kindness of these men, where Palestinian men have been dehumanised and villainized so often. I wanted to center their touch, affection and their warmth, and continue to hold them in our minds and our hearts.
This painting is currently being exhibited at the Islamic Museum of Australia, for the exhibition "Palestine Through Time", which acts as a tapestry of the art, culture and heritage of historic Palestine.
