Just as roots expand and intertwine, they become engrained within our being and connect us all.
"Roots" is an exploration of intergenerational and familial connection, story-telling and story-sharing, and is an exhibition that engages art-making as a tradition that exists throughout the roots of the artist's family line -- whether that art be music, poetry, or visual art. "Roots" is developed with the intention of continuing this tradition of creation as a way to preserve culture, tribute cultural connection, and pay homage to lineage.

I come from that proud mountain,
I come from Baisour
I come from this precious land,
 of fire and light.

I come from the mother of martyrdom, the home of the heroes who sacrificed their lives.
I am one of the hands that protected it from harm
I belong to the people of chivalry
I am from the prophet’s land of dignity
I am from the solid rock mountain covered with flowers

I carry my country's pain in my heart
May my country be blessed
Love for my country fills my heart and my soul,
and runs in my blood.

Whatever you ask, my country
We will respond as we always have
Whatever you ask and more, we will gladly give.

Lyrics, Vocals and Melody by Hatem Malaeb.
