Joy is resistance. In Gaza, the joy of Palestinian people and their pride in their land will forever be how we remember them, not for the suffering they’ve endured. ‘We All Share the Same Sky’ is a tribute to the joy of the Palestinians in Gaza creating kites and flying them in our shared sky as a way to still express their joy, to keep children smiling, and is the most authentic display of the beauty of Palestinian strength and culture. The same sky these kites are flown in is the same sky we have above our own heads, as we continue to keep their strength and their joy at the forefront of our minds. May they fly their kites once more in the sky of a Free Palestine.
An iteration of this painting was made as part of Free Palestine Printing's Fundraiser for Palestine, which raised money for Palestinian refugees arriving in Australia. It sold as part of the fundraiser since.
